Remote Data Access Sage 50

Sage 50 Remote Data Access is a feature that allows users of Sage 50 accounting software to access their accounting data from remote locations, providing flexibility and convenience for businesses. With this tool, authorized users can work on their company's financial data, manage accounts, and perform accounting tasks from virtually anywhere with an internet connection. This remote data access feature in Sage 50 streamlines collaboration and enables efficient work, especially when team members are not present in the same physical location.

How to Invite Users to a Shared Remote Data Access Company

In this section read how to manage a Sage 50 company with remote data access or shared remote data access with others.

  • Ensure all other users are logged out of the company.

  • Open the company navigate to Maintain Users, and Set Up User Security.

  • If the company is currently shared, select "Yes" when prompted to Pause sharing.

  • Choose "New User."

  • For existing users, select "Edit User's Rights (or Roles)."

  • If a user appears on the list with an asterisk, select "Add user to this company."

  • Fill in the User's name, Password, and Email.

  • Select the user's level of access and save the record. Repeat these steps to add any additional users.

  • Once finished, click "Save and close."

  • A shared company will automatically resume sharing and send invitations to the users.

  • If the company hasn't been shared yet, follow the instructions in 'How do I share a company using Remote Data Access?'

  • Users will receive an invitation email to join the shared company and will be prompted to create a Sage account if they don't already have one.

How to successfully share companies and manage users with Remote Data Access

To set up Remote Data Access Multi-User with Sage 50, ensure you have the following:

  • An up-to-date Sage 50 version on your computer.

  • Acquire a Sage Drive multi-user license, separate from the Sage 50 multi-user license. For this license, please contact Sales at 877-495-9904.

  • Each user accessing the company via Sage 50 must have a unique Sage account email address, including local users on the local network.

  • A reliable high-speed internet connection:

  • For optimal performance: Download speed of at least 25mbps and an upload speed of at least 10mbps.

  • Minimum requirement: Download speed of 25mbps and an upload speed of 10mbps.

  • Companies with databases under 500 megabytes (not using inventory or multiple lines on transactions) can often work well with an upload speed of 10mbps.

  • For companies larger than 500 megabytes (not using inventory or multiple lines on transactions), an upload speed of 10mbps or more is recommended for the best performance.

  • Companies using inventory and/or multiple lines on transactions should aim for an upload speed of at least 10mbps for optimal performance.

  • Keep in mind the data size limit for Remote Data Access companies is 5.3GB, which includes attachments and archives.

  • If your database exceeds 5.3GB, utilize the purge process to reduce its size. Refer to the instructions on 'How to Purge Data'.

  • If you have an existing Sage 50 Accounting Multi-user setup, you must convert it to a standalone version of Sage 50 Accounting.



How to rebase a Remote Data Access company

Caution: Always back up your data before proceeding with advanced solutions. If needed, consider seeking assistance from a qualified Sage business partner, network administrator, or Sage customer support analyst.

  • Go to the Help menu, then select Support Utilities, and choose "Rebase Remote Data Access Company" (for 2020 and earlier versions, use "Rebase Sage Drive Company").

  • Click "Close" when you see the message confirming the successful upload to Remote Data Access.

  • Verify that the company opens without any errors on the other computer(s).
